Local blogger, beauty guru, and businesswoman, Elizabeth Dehn (aka “Beauty Bets”) is an international sensation. She’s been ranked among the most powerful Pinterest users in the world; flies to remote South Korean islands to test cutting-edge skincare products; and heads her own skincare line, Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics, which claims loyalists worldwide.
That said, we can attest that she’s one of the most down-to-earth people we know. Born and raised in Minnesota, she has a soft spot for animals (particularly, her beloved yellow lab, Molly Thomas), frequents our cherished North Shore, and never shies from straight talk.
A frequent flier and slave to wanderlust, Dehn recently shared her tips for traveling in style.
What’s your “elevator speech” philosophy on beauty?
Self-love and care aren’t a luxury—they’re essential to looking and feeling your best. Make yourself a priority, whether that’s getting a massage or getting quiet for five minutes a day.
What’s your formula for beauty on the go?
Use a primer or long-wear base like Jane Iredale Glowtime Mineral BB Cream so your skin stays flawless all day. Then, just add lip gloss!
What’s in your carry-on?
My Louis Vuitton Neverfull is the best splurge I ever made. It literally holds everything: Laptop, a cardi or wrap for fluctuating plane temps, books and the New York Times, and my clear, TSA-approved Kiehl’s cosmetic bag, which is always packed with skincare samples.
You’ll never leave home without:
My iphone6 (my life) and a blush or bronzer for quick touch-ups.
Dream destination spa:
I would kill to stay at Sugar Beach on St. Lucia. The setting is stunning and Viceroy Hotels have the best interiors.
Favorite place to relax:
Bald Head Island, North Carolina. My family goes there for a week every year, and it’s heaven. There are no cars on the island and nothing to do but read, sleep, play in the ocean, and sit by the pool. Forced relaxation at its best!
What artists are on your airplane playlist?
A shameless amount of indie rock: Lord Huron, Ryan Adams, Mumford & Sons, Ben Howard.
What meal would you travel miles for?
Gnocchi with Bolognese in Abano Terma, a tiny town outside of Venice, Italy, known for its hot springs, mud baths—and gnocchi.
Jennifer Connelly. Those brows; that skin!
MSP Airport ritual:
Grab a kombucha and the Spa Salad from French Meadow and get to the gate just before boarding.
